Effloresce: Ef flo resce vb. (intr.) 1. To burst forth into or as if into flower; bloom.

As its name implies, Oceansize’s debut album, Effloresce, on Beggar’s Banquet records, shows the Manchester, England-based band at the height of their power – effortlessly fusing vast, heavy, and bombastic riffs alongside delicate and beautiful streams of sound.

Lead singer and guitarist, Mike Vennart, makes up one-third of the three-guitar attack that forms the core of Oceansize’s sound. Of prideful noteworthy mention, Mike’s main instrument is a lefty Squier® Stratocaster® guitar.

Shifting dynamics and time signatures keep things interesting, but the catchy vocal melodies soar effortlessly over the top to make for music that is not only complex and cerebral, but also extremely listenable.
