Consider if you will the Squier Mini Player—a small but clever little brute of a guitar with the amplifier and the speaker and the distortion and what all conveniently built right into it. Oh, you can run it through an amp if you want, though. Or you can plug headphones straight into it and wail away without waking up the whole neighborhood.
Mind you, the Mini Player isn’t a toy, but rather a real guitar perfect for travelers and beginners and honest-to-goodness guitarists of all ages.
Don’t take our word for it, though—take a look at guitarists Spencer Bastian and Christian Meadows from Los Angles alt-rock quintet After Midnight Project, presented here with their Mini Player mojo in full-on writing, rehearsal and rawk mode during a Warped Tour stop in Pittsburgh.
“It doesn’t feel like a travel guitar; like a practice guitar,” Bastian says in the video. “It just feels like a Fender® guitar. The humbucker sounds great. The gain is easily adjustable. You get decent clean tones out of it, too. Overall, these things are awesome—you can’t go wrong with them.”
